HELP US SUPPORT OUR INCREDIBLE HEALTH CARE WORKERS AND LOCAL RESTAURANTS AND THEIR EMPLOYEES DURING COVID-19!

The CityCraft Foundation is partnering with The Same Plate and other local Denver residents to provide meals for our hospital workers and support local restaurants. How are we doing this?

Step 1: We are collecting monetary donations via the button below.

Step 2: We will distribute the money that gets donated to local restaurants to prepare takeout orders that we can then take to local hospitals.

The CityCraft Foundation and The Same Plate are partnering together to support both hospital workers and local restaurant owners during the challenging economic times of COVID-19.

How the partnership came to be:

Since 2014, CityCraft has been working collaboratively to convene, listen, remove barriers, and support and catalyze shared action to build a more equitable and regenerative food system in West Denver. Through this work, CityCraft has been co-facilitating the Sun Valley Food Access Collaborative, is currently leading a food handler’s certificate program for local chefs, and is playing a supportive role in the Sun Valley Kitchen’s Cultural Cooking Series, where CityCraft Foundation and The Same Plate’s paths first crossed.

Through group dinners and group or individual cooking experiences, The Same Plate creates inclusive spaces for people of all identities and backgrounds to eat, think, talk and connect. When in-restuarant dining was suspended in mid-March, The Same Plate saw an immediate need to support local restaurants – particularly those run by immigrant families. Conversations with others in the Denver community highlighted the long hours and stressful working conditions of those in our health care systems working on the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic.

CityCraft and The Same Plate are working together to create sustainable support structures to benefit local restaurant owners, hospital workers, and by extension the greater Denver community as we look for ways to come together during the Corona outbreak. We are starting by collecting tax-deductible monetary donations that will be donated to local restaurants to prepare takeout orders that we can then take to local hospitals.

The Same Plate events that I’ve attended have opened my eyes to many of the different cuisines around the world, and even more importantly they’ve been fun and interesting communal experiences.
